Repair: HP 5328A part 3 – addendum

Here I wrote that I would order at least some replacement components before going on with this repair.

I was wrong. I found two suitable zeners so I decided to test the counter anyway. No point in ordering components if I am not sure the counter is going to work.

After a generous application of contact cleaner in the right places the HP 5328A seems to work fine but I have yet to test its HPIB interface.

So it seems that I am really going to order the zeners I need and while I am at it I am also going to order the components I need to rebuilt the mains filter of my Solartron 7150.

While waiting for the order to arrive I am going to clean the 5328A as much as possible and then maybe to design my own Option 010.

If everything goes well, the next post about this repair will be the last one, with images and a full recap of everything.
