Windows 7 and HP ScanJet 3800

Yesterday night I compiled Perl 5.22.1

Today, I am watching as the tests run (everything ok so far).

While I am watching the lines scrolling I am thinking about a little problem (and I am also writing this post).

Subject A: an all-in-one PC running Windows 7 32bit

Subject B: HP ScanJet 3800

The scanner is supported under Windows 7 32bit. I downloaded the drivers I needed from hp.com

I didn’t foresee any problem, just download, install, connect and then – scan.

I was wrong.

The full compilation of driver and software isn’t installing everything as it should. It doesn’t give my any warning or error, it just doesn’t install a lot of things that should be installed.

The correct drivers, they are installed and so the scanner can be used but that scanner can scan negatives and positives only with its own software.

I tried to uninstall the suite, but it seems that it leaves something somewhere that prevents me from doing a correct installation.

Why?

Why doesn’t the suit install correctly? Why doesn’t uninstall everything like it should?

A friend of mine suggested that the problem may be that the all-in-one didn’t start its life running Windows 7 but was upgraded from Windows XP. The upgrade may have messed up something.

But what?

And while I was thinking about this and asking Google, perl passed its tests.

Time to install it and start working on the next step.

I have a scanner HP Scanjet 3800. Operating system is Windows7. I want to scan negatives of the photos as positive, but I am experiencing problem. The CD of the scanner available with me is showing that this product does not work with Windows7. Earlier the same scanner was functioning all-in-one suit on Windows XP. Please help out.
